Good news! Australia has called for a ban on all cosmetics tested on animals and products that include these animal tested ingredients. The ban will be in place from July this year. No doubt it confirms that unethical animal testing will no longer be accepted.
The ban is backed by overwhelming support from the public. In fact, 85% of Australians are against using animal testing for cosmetics. In fact, research also shows women care more and more about their make-up and skincare being cruelty-free.
The move follows the ban of animal-tested cosmetics already in place in the EU, Israel, Norway, India, New Zealand and Turkey. The global movement is encouraged by the #BeCrueltyFree campaign, which launched back in 2012. Campaigner, Hannah Stuart says that the ‘ban in Australia will be good for animals, consumers and science, and it’s what the overwhelming majority of Australian citizens want”.
No brand sold on Peachy includes animal tested products. But the suffering caused to animals today goes beyond animal testing. We have a long way to go to protect animals fully. Take the staggering harm done throughout the meat and dairy production industry. Common practice in this industry includes drugging, inhumane rearing, and torture.
For this reason, Peachy went one step further to take a stand against animal cruelty and includes only vegan products. Carefully selecting products that don’t contain animal or animal-derived ingredients is the only way to trust your goods are cruelty-free.
It’s great that cosmetics are cleaning up their act. Let’s see if we can step it up even more and stamp out animal cruelty for good!
